The Louisiana State Penitentiary Museum at Angola is proud to present the Farming on the Farm exhibit which will be displayed at the Ringgold branch of the Bienville parish library from January 1st through January 31st. Come see historical and contemporary images of agricultural production on the largest prison farm in the United States photographed by both Angola and The Angolite staff. A former plantation and still a working farm staffed by inmates, Angola consists of 18,000 acres of the finest farm land in the South. Housing approximately 6,000 men, “The Farm” has traditionally supplied all of the vegetables that the prisoners on Angola eat. Learn about “Farming on the Farm” from the early 1900s when Louisiana purchased Angola, until the present agricultural operations of this century.
