LOC christ 2013

The annual live, outdoor production of The Life of Jesus Christ performed by a cast of offenders from the Louisiana State Penitentiary and the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women will be presented on the grounds of the Louisiana State Penitentiary on March 21st, 22nd, and 23rd, 2013. The three hour play depicts the complete story of Jesus’ life and resurrection. The gospel comes to life as the offender troupe tells the story of Jesus’ life. All aspects of this event have been orchestrated by offenders – from script adaptation, direction, casting, music, costuming, and set design. Live animals, including a camel, will participate in the production.

For over 2,000 years, this story has been told to generations, and for decades The Life of Jesus Christ productions have been performed in front of large audiences throughout the world. This Peter Huntley version of the play has been performed in Scotland and Africa and now for the second time at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola.
Tickets to the event may be purchased for $10.00 per person from the Louisiana Prison Chapel Foundation (225-931-3664) or the Louisiana State Penitentiary Museum (225-655-2592). The gates will open at 9:00 a.m. and the play will begin at 10:00 a.m.
